School of Computer Sciences Conducts Anti-Drug Day Observance
– A Collective Stand for a Drug-Free Campus

The School of Computer Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, observed Anti-Drug Day on June 26, 2025, with a meaningful and thought-provoking session held in the department Seminar Hall at 10:30 AM. The event witnessed the active participation of the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Bindu V. R., along with faculty members, non-teaching staff, research scholars, and MSc students.
The programme began with an anti-drug pledge, where all attendees solemnly took an oath against the use and promotion of drugs, reaffirming their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle and society.
This was followed by an open discussion session, where participants engaged in sharing their views on the growing issue of drug abuse in society. Sujith P. S., a research scholar, shared his observations on the influence and presence of drug-related issues within campus areas, including hostels. In his talk, he emphasized the need for personal responsibility, stating, “We should decide what is wrong and what is right.”

Adding to the conversation, Prof. Dr. Bindu V. R. spoke about the importance of awareness and education in preventing substance abuse. She encouraged everyone to remain vigilant and proactive in spreading the message of anti-drug awareness and to actively take part in similar initiatives in the future.
The session concluded with a strong collective message against drug abuse and a renewed dedication to fostering a safe and healthy campus environment.
