MOOC/E-Content Development for Teaching and Learning

Orientation Program, November 2019

A One-day Orientation Programme on Digital Learning through SWAYAM was conducted on 15.11.2019 at the School of Chemical Sciences auditorium, Mahatma Gandhi University. The targeted audience were faculty members of the University schools/centres and all affiliated colleges of the University. The main objective of conducting this orientation programme was to update the faculty members to latest technological development in teaching, learning and evaluation process using Massive Open Online Courses. The programme had an overall participation of 132 faculty members. It also helped

  • To generate an awareness of digital learning and emerging opportunities through SWAYAM and SWAYAMPrabha
  • To inculcate the culture of using MOOC programmes in the academic scenario.
  • To equip the faculty members in developing MOOC content in their own subject area and to submit to the SWAYAM platform.


Faculty Development Programme, February 2019

A One Week Faculty Development Programme on MOOCs and E- Content Development was organized in association with School of Computer Sciences, School of Pedagogical Sciences & University Center for International Co-operation during O4 08 February 2019 at School of Computer Sciences. The objective was to update the faculty members to latest technological developments in teaching, learning and evaluation process using MOOCs and to popularise the SWAYAM initiative. 28 faculty members from various affiliated institutions and schools of the University participated. The workshop enabled the participants to develop a short learning object as MOOC content in their own subject area and to deliver these materials through the University website, as a motivation to the faculty members to upload online courses in SWAYAM platform. The workshop also served to inculcate the culture of using MOOCs programmes in the academic scenario.

 


 

Faculty Development Programme January 2017

Two Weeks Capacity Building Workshop on “E-Learning and E-Content Development” 16th – 31st January 2017, was organized in association with College Development Council, Mahatma Gandhi University and University Center for International Co-operation (UCIC), at School of Computer Sciences.

  1. Contributed a module on “Computer Mediated Communication” to the MOOC Course “Instructional Design” by Dr. Sajna Jaleel currently running on the SWAYAM Platform.

  2. Prepared video tutorials on MOODLE for the one week online Faculty Training Programme on Vidyamrutam conducted for all teachers of schools/centres of the University, June 2020.

  3. Developed a Video Tutorial on the topic MOODLE- “Course Administration Part 1 and Part2” for the one week online Faculty Training Programme conducted for all teachers of schools/centres. 

  4. Contributed a module on “Various Approaches and Contents of e-learning” to the MOOC Course “Instructional Design” under the SWAYAM Platform by Dr. Sajna Jaleel.


Multimedia Research Lab For Teaching And Learning Through SWAYAM

A Project to set up a sophisticated Multimedia Research lab in the campus facilitating professional level e-content development for faculty members and enabling teaching-learning through online platforms such as SWAYAM (20 lakhs) sanctioned by Govt. of Kerala under the annual plan is currently ongoing.
