Placement Activities
Normally M Sc students are allowed to take up the main project in collaboration with leading R&D organizations/industries. This enables the students to develop a solution to a fairly large problem in addition to the exposure to the professional and real time environments of the organizations. MNC’s / organizations with which we are constantly interacting include Microsoft, Oracle, Siemens, Lucent Technologies, Infosys, Wipro, CMC, IMR, BaaN, HP, BFL Software, Pentasoft, US Software, HBS, Suntec, Polus Software, C-DAC, C-DIT, NPOL, BARC, Keltron, etc. Our alumni are well placed in most of these firms. In both project and job placement activities, the alumni renders a great level of support to the placement cell of the School.
Due to the rapid developments in the subject area the School needs to maintain the syllabus of the M Sc/M Tech programmes up to date and meeting the demands of the industry as well as academia. In order to accomplish this, we have to maintain constant collaboration with the industry / R&D organizations. The well placed professional group of our resourceful alumni helps to accomplish this to a great extent.
The alumni provides ample support to students of the school in many aspects. They technically and financially help the C$$A(Computer Science Student Association) in organizing the annual technical meet, Interface and also in the publication of the annual technical publication ITGlimpse. The School has been organizing the annual technical meet “Interface” since 1996 and publishing an annual technical publication “IT Glimpse” since 1999. The three days programme is completely organized by the students with ample support and guidance from alumni and faculty members. The event aims at bringing together computer science students from various universities and institutions and to provide a common platform to share their talents by means of a series of technically challenging competitions like Paper Presentations, Technical Quiz, Programming, N/W gaming, Troubleshooting and so on.
The school makes it a point to organize at least one technical talk/seminar by a member of alumni every year. The annual alumni meet during Interface sets the stage for close interactions, where the alumni share the trends and changes in industry. Another area where alumni extends support to the students of the school is by guiding their projects.
A major share of the expense for the annual technical meet organized by the students of the school is met by the contribution from alumni. Normally the amount is spent as prize money for the winners of the various technical contests.
