Women’s Day 2026

The School of Computer Sciences and School of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics organized
the International Women’s Day 2026 Celebration on March 09, 2026, at the department seminar hall. The programme was conducted under the theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For all Women and Girls” along with the slogan “Give to Gain.” The event aimed to create awareness about women’s rights, empowerment, and contributions in society while inspiring students through meaningful discussions and activities.

Inaugural Session & Keynote Address

The Women’s Day celebration was officially inaugurated on March 09, 2026, at the Seminar Hall of the School of Computer Sciences. The event began with a welcome speech by Prof. Dr. Pushpalatha K P, setting the tone for the program. This was followed by the presidential address delivered by Prof. Dr. Bindu V R, Head of the School of Computer Sciences, who emphasised the importance of gender equality and inclusivity in all fields, especially in science and technology. Students expressed their love for Women’s Day by presenting handmade crafts to the faculty members.

The highlight of the event was the keynote address delivered by the chief guest, Ms. Anjali Nair, Technology Leader and Board Strategist. Her session, titled “Rights, Justice and Action. For ALL women and girls” She shared her professional journey from being an Electrical Engineer to a DevOps Engineer, explaining how determination and perseverance helped her progress in the corporate world. She encouraged students to pursue their goals with calmness, confidence, and empathy.

Prize Distribution

As part of the Women’s Day celebrations, a Quiz Competition was conducted on March 06, 2026, in the Seminar Hall. The quiz was designed to test participants’ knowledge on a variety of topics regarding women. The event began with a preliminary round, in which several teams participated enthusiastically. After an intense elimination process, three teams advanced to the final round.

The final round was divided into three sections:

1. General Round – covering diverse topics related to current affairs and women’s

history.

2. Visual Round – where participants had to identify personalities.

3. Audio Round – featuring speeches and audio clips of famous women leaders, activists,

and historical moments.

The participants showed great enthusiasm, and the audience was equally engaged, actively

cheering for their favourite teams. After a competitive and exciting final round, the winners

were announced:

• First Prize (₹2000/-): Gowri Nandana M and Tanmayi C A from the Graduate School.

• Second Prize (₹1000/-): Sreelakshmi Sudhakaran and Somiya Mathew from the School of

Pedagogical Sciences

• Third Prize (Certificate): Hamdan V M and Jeeven George from the MSW-IUCDS           Prof. Dr. Jyothisha J. Nair delivered the felicitation address. She began by presenting statistics related to women in science and technology, pointing out that while the ratio of students in STEM education is nearly 1:1, the representation of women in the professional workforce is still comparatively low. She explained that childcare and homemaking responsibilities are major factors contributing to this disparity. As a solution, she suggested that boys should also be educated about home care and childcare responsibilities, which would help create a more balanced and supportive society.

She also shared a powerful message about the importance of learning to say “No.” She emphasized that “No means No,” and that individuals should confidently say no whenever necessary, as the ability to say no holds power and helps in setting personal boundaries.” She concluded her address with the quote: “Giving is an Intentional Multiplication”.

Prof. (Dr.) Bindu V.R., Prof. (Dr.) Pushpalatha K.P., and Prof. (Dr.) Jyothisha J. Nair presented a memento to the Chief Guest Ms. Anjali Nair as a token of appreciation for her valuable presence and inspiring address.

An interactive game session – ‘Mystery Number Challenge’, was conducted engaging participants and adding a lively element to the programme. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by C$$A General Secretary, Anusree. She expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, faculty members, organizers, and participants for contributing to the success of the event.

The International Women’s Day celebration concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. The programme served as a meaningful platform to highlight the importance of women’s rights, justice, and collective action in building an inclusive society. The inspiring words of the Chief Guest and the valuable insights shared by the faculty members encouraged students to develop confidence, individuality, and a sense of responsibility toward society. The various segments of the programme, including the quiz competition and interactive activities, made the event engaging and memorable. Overall, the celebration effectively conveyed the message of empowerment and unity, leaving the participants motivated to contribute positively toward the progress of women and society.
